ESSE (the act of being, in Latin) has intrigued philosophers since ancient times. The relationship between essentia (essence - that which makes a thing what it is) and esse (that through which and in which a being has its acts of being) is the root of an age-old dialogue that has shaped the worldviews of generations, and helped form metaphysical, ethical, and moral theories that have shaken the world. These theories have had a huge impact on my development as an artist and human being.

The music of this album is inspired and illustrates - through composition and improvisation - the philosophies of some of the most brilliant minds in the history of western philosophy.
